Teaching & Tutoring Experience
I taught Business Studies and Economics in school for 14 years, becoming KS5 coordinator for these subjects and advising many sixth formers on university entrance. I have been an examiner in both subjects for AQA, Edexcel and OCR A-level
I started online tutoring ‘pro bono’, teaching a complete AS course to a student too ill to attend my school. I now tutor full time with students located all over the world, from near my home in England to Los Angeles, Moscow and Kuala Lumpur.
Before retraining to teach, I was in project management in UK, Europe, North Africa and Asia, most recently developing very large energy projects in Indonesia.

“ Francis is reliable, enthusiastic, has motivated my son to do work in between sessions, has relevant and up to date knowledge for Economics AS level. Jack likes him. There is one downside to being remote, in that my son is dyslexic and it can be tricky to see what he is able to read/missing in questions, but Francis does his best to cater for this. I would not change to another tutor for Economics now. ”

“ Francis has been excellent and has really helped my son prepare for his Business exam. His insight and knowledge have been invaluable and Jack has enjoyed the sessions. I would recommend Francis to any new customer. He has definitely gone that extra mile to help Jack. ”

“ Francis and his wider team at Learning is Good were hugely supportive in tutoring my son for his A2 exams in economics and geography and for the SAT subject test in literature. They re-energised my son who had been very down after a very disappointing set of AS exams. They made his studies feel relevant again. My son's AS results improved hugely and his A2 results, while a little short of what he could achieve, were much better than would have been implied by his AS results. This took great commitment as my son had to take some 13-14 exams in his last sitting (rather than the 7 which would have been the norm for his subjects. Francis and his team deserve great credit. They are diligent, always well prepared, very current and would do well with other students who need support (like my son) but, I am sure, also with those for whom applying to a top UK or international university is the goal. I could not be more happy with what they did for Alexander. ”
